Color Boot Camp – Part 5: Hue with Bill Perkins (New Masters Academy)

“Learn to control color like a master. In Part 5 of the legendary Color Boot Camp series, Bill Perkins reveals the secrets of Hue – the building block of visual storytelling.”

Mastering Hue in Color Theory
This fifth installment in Bill Perkins’ Color Boot Camp series focuses exclusively on Hue, one of the core dimensions of color theory. Designed for visual artists, painters, concept designers, animators, and illustrators, this NMA course breaks down the structure of color from a cinematic and fine art perspective.

If you're confused about why some palettes work and others fall flat, Part 5 gives you the keys to build cohesive and powerful hue strategies in your art.

➺ What You’ll Learn
✔ What Hue is – and how it differs from color, value, and chroma
✔ How the human eye perceives hue shifts
✔ Hue mapping, temperature ranges, and relationships
✔ Expressive vs realistic color in storytelling
✔ Visual examples from masterworks and cinema
✔ Practical exercises using color wheels and paint swatches

➺ Course Features
✔ Taught by legendary Disney layout artist Bill Perkins
✔ 3+ hours of in-depth, professional instruction
✔ Real-time demonstrations with color breakdowns
✔ PDF handouts and reference materials included
✔ Part of the complete Color Boot Camp series (8 parts total)
✔ Access via New Masters Academy platform

Why Hue Matters for Artists
➺ 1. The Language of Emotion
Hue choice influences mood, tone, and theme. Learn how to shift hues intentionally to support your story or visual message.

➺ 2. Avoid Muddy Color
Bill teaches how to maintain clean color separation without turning your palette into a gray mess.

➺ 3. Better Color Design
You'll start designing your colors like a production artist — using warm vs cool, complementary relationships, and hue bias to elevate your work.

➺ 4. Actionable Techniques
Instead of just theory, Bill gives you actual methods to start improving your paintings today — whether digital or traditional.

Who This Course Is For

Unfortunatly the files are dubbed over, and NOT in English. So I won't get as much use out of this course. Might be more useful for others.
